Vanessa is face of Legon

By Mary A. Ankrah
Vanessa Adugu, a 19-year old level 100 student was last Friday crowned the Face of Legon at the National Theatre.
She wrestled the title from 11 other contestants and for her wearing the crown, Vanessa of Akuafo Hall received a brand new GW Peri luxery engine car from Autoworld, GH¢ 1,000, six month supply of make up from sleek cosmetics, six month supply of wardrobe from woodin and a hamper from sponsors.
As part of her reign, Vanessa will work with the national best farmer for a year and she will represent the University of Ghana for the annual Face of Tertiary pageant.
The first runner-up, Mamee Akosua Agyapong also a 19-year old level 100 student from the Volta hall received a return ticket to South Africa, a laptop, GH¢500, three months supply of make-up from sleek cosmetics, three month supply of wardrobe from Woodin and a hamper from sponsors.
The second runner-up, Maame Fosua Ellis, 18 and 100 student also of the Akuafo hall received a laptop, GH¢300, a month supply of make-up from sleek, a month supply of wardrobe from Woodin and a hamper from sponsors. The rest of the contestants received GH¢200 and other consolation prizes.
Also, Mamee Akosua Agyepong was adjudged Miss Eloquent and Talented. The Miss Congeniality award went to Selma Zakaria and Miss “cat walk” went to Vanessa.
The four-hour show covered performances from the 12 finalists whose talents, eloquence and congeniality was tested in a talent display and question and answer session. The contestants did quite well and the audience where dazzle by some of their performances.
The event attracted a large population of the University of Ghana. There were performances from Trigmatic, D-Cryme and Ketse which was not so excited.
The night was disappointing as the audience expected a lively event. It was obvious that the organizers, Dreamworld Ghana, did not conclude all necessary arrangements for a smooth running of the show.
The MC for the show, JOT Agyemang of e-TV didn’t do a good job. He fumbled a lot making the show boring.
The organizers told Showbiz that the ultimate prize of the GW Peri car which was exhibited at the National Theatre during the show and other contestants’ prizes which were not presented at the event will be offered to the winner and other contestants at a later date.
