GRAPHIC SHOWIZ: October 21 - October 26, 2010. Araba Goes Out on Right Night

Araba Goes Out On Rites Night

By: Mary A. Ankrah

The Ghana's Most Beautiful show took contestants through the rites of passage last Sunday and the ladies treated audiences to outstanding performances on rites related to issues such as marriage, widowhood, naming, adulthood and death.

The reality show this past week was very educative and entertaining. Chaana and Naa, representing the Upper West and the Greater Accra regions respectively, demonstrated how naming ceremonies are done in their regions.

Emefa, Araba and Ama, representing the Volta, Western and the Eastern regions enacted adulthood rites while Asibi from the Upper West region also performed widowhood rites and Bambi performed death rites.

Efo Kwadzo Mawugbe, one of the judges on the show gave a standing ovation to appreciate how well the ladies performed.

However, the eviction van drove Araba back to the Western Region as she recorded the least votes on the night.

FBS of Oluman Boogie fame entertained patrons to their effectious stagecraft. Judges Efo Kwadzo and Linda couldn't hide their excitement as they danced their hearts out. Even Araba who was evicted danced.

Week by week, the contestants of Ghana’s Most Beautiful display the rich Ghanaian culture and traditions. And this year's show has involved many traditional rulers who graced Studio B to watch the ladies perform.

In a chat with the contestants, they told Showbiz that they have learnt a lot living together. They said they had learnt to live in peace and broaden their knowledge through their perfomances.

They also told Showbiz that although they are not allowed to contact friends and families, they are well taken care of and commended TV3 for treating them well.

Next week, the ladies will do a “cross regional performance” to showcase the similarities and how integrated our cultural practices and beliefs are. Ghana’s Most Beautiful is telecast on TV3 on Sundays from 8pm to 10pm.
